AEROS DIRECTOR POSITION
A-WOL Dance Collective is seeking a Director for our Youth Performance Company, Aeros. The A-WOL Aeros are a group of youth students 10-18yrs who train and perform under the direction of several coaches. This position requires program oversight and communication with all parties involved, including students, parents, coaches, and A-WOL staff. The Aeros Director works with the Operations Manager under the direction of the Education Director and Executive Director. The Aeros Director should be well-versed in live performance production, group ground choreography, and have a strong understanding of aerial choreography on multiple aerial apparatus.
The Director must communicate clearly and effectively to internal staff, parents, and students. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Google Suite is required. Knowledge of MindBody is a plus. This position is service-oriented and requires the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. The Artistic Director will be expected to complete detail-oriented work both creatively and administratively in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Organization
Provide a safe and inclusive environment for students and staff to excel in training and coaching aerial arts.
Conflict resolution between students, their peers, and coaches.
Work directly with the Operations Coordinator and Education Director to create a 10 month long training program September- June and continuing education opportunities through the summer.
Production
The candidate should have a strong background in teaching aerial and floor-based movement to youth.
Coordinate with A-WOL artistic directors for annual winter gala (December). Cast and choreograph Aeros portion of the production as well as be the day of event coordinator.
Design and casting yearly productions. This currently includes 2 annual productions: the annual Aeros Production which is a full length show (April) and Open Air which is a 25-30 minute show (June).
Setting deadlines according to the rehearsal schedule (this is coordinated directly with the Operations Coordinator).
Costume design and collaboration for Gala, Aeros Production and Open Air.
Photoshoot coordination
Marketing materials design/contracting program design (this can be done in combination with our Marketing Coordinator)
Additional Requirements
Rigging experience
Aerial training and teaching experience
Apparatus maintenance (such as retaping, dressing elbows, etc)
Word or Google Docs
Excel/Google Sheets
Google Drive
Music cutting/mixing ability
Basic sewing skills

Compensation
Compensation for this position is broken into two job descriptions
Aeros Director Admin - starting at $18.50 / hour and can be increased based on prior directing experience
Aerial Coach - starting at $30 / hour
Monthly Group Aeros Class - Saturday
10 -12 hours per week for Admin, plus additional coaching of up to 6 hours per week.
Location
Remote & On-site hours
A portion of hours can be done remotely. A percentage of weekly hours are required to be on site at 513 NE Schuyler St Portland OR 97212. On-site hours vary depending on show production schedule.
