A-WOL Dance Collective is a 501(c)(3) with a mission to embody "aerial without limits" through the presentation of world-class performances and educational opportunities for all that defy expectation, ignite inspiration, and foster creativity.
A-WOL Dance Collective believes that the arts build community and enhance the quality of life. Art, in its various forms, fosters creativity, empowers individuals and brings people together. A-WOL's warehouse headquarters offers a place of belonging for its patrons. Our students become friends with one another, our audience hangs out before and after shows, our volunteers mingle with our performers and our staff takes great ownership in our organization. Many have told us that they have found a sense of meaning and belonging by being a part of A-WOL in various ways.
A-WOL Dance Collective is an equal opportunity organization committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment. A-WOL does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, national origin or disability in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, employment policies, scholarships, programs and activities. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

Behind the scenes
Jen Livengood
Artistic Director
As a founder and director of A-WOL, Jen manages many of the business aspects of the organization. On any given day you'll find her buried in budgets, meeting with arts partners from around the town, booking performances for any of our performing groups or overseeing office projects with the rest of the staff. Although the creative side of A-WOL is her favorite, she loves a good spreadsheet and conference call!
Alicia Anthony
artistic director
Alicia plays a role in both the artistic side of A-WOL and entertainment bookings through Circus Rose. Alicia is a native Oregonian and has been dancing since the day she was born on this soil. She has trained many dance disciplines, including jazz, modern, hip-hop, ballet and contemporary movement. Since becoming an aerialist in adulthood, she has become a very passionate instructor. Alicia’s favorite aspect of A-WOL is the fusion of dance, acrobatics, and aerial included in productions.
Bethany Foran
Executive Director
Bethany found her love for the arts back in 2003 as a spotlight operator for the musical 42nd Street in Helena, MT. Since that point she has been involved in over 100 live productions as a stage manager, stage-hand, lightboard operator, light designer, set designer, house manager or performer. She has a background in Theater Management and holds a Masters in International Management with an emphasis on non-profits from Portland State University. She joined A-WOL in 2017 as a student, was a member of Flyco from 2019-2021 and hasn’t wanted to leave since.
Kari Hunter
Education Director
Drawing from a background in dance, gymnastics, theater, and music, Kari has been training, performing and coaching circus arts since 2001. Her coaching credits include the Circus Guild, Versatile Arts, Emerald City Trapeze, Le Cirque Centre, the Circus Center (San Francisco), Cirque Alaska, New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA), the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA) where she served as lead aerial coach for the Professional Preparatory Program, The Circus Project, where she served as Education Manager, youth training company manager, and rigging coordinator in addition to coaching, and most recently, Echo Theater and A-WOL Dance Collective. Deemed an “aerialist par excellence” by the Seattle Times, Kari has graced the stage in over 30 major U.S. cities and internationally with the Seattle Opera, Pallazo Variete, Freidrichsbau Variete (Germany), Festival Burlesco (Portugal), and Teatro Zinzanni (Seattle and San Francisco), among many others regionally.
Angela Bryant
FlyCo Director & Operations Coordinator
Angela is a multidisciplinary artist with more than 16 years of training in circus arts. She is especially passionate about partner-based disciplines and thrives in the collaborative, creative process of ensemble show building. Angela has been performing with Tempos Contemporary Circus since 2013 and with AWOL Dance Collective since 2016.
Raised in dance studios and on gymnastics floors, Angela first discovered her love of performance through jump rope, traveling, and performing with a jump rope team throughout middle and high school. That early experience sparked a lifelong connection to the stage.
Years later, she expanded her training into partner acrobatics and aerial dance, finding in these art forms a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. Today, Angela continues to pursue her work not only as a performer, but also as a dedicated coach, sharing her passion for movement, collaboration, and creative expression with others.
Beth Fuegy
aeros director
Beth began taking modern dance at Buckman Elementary here in Portland. Later, after teaching preschool and dance for children, she found Pilates and began to focus on bodywork, becoming an LMT in 2008, then certifying as a Structural Integration Practitioner in 2013.
In 2014, she began testing the waters with aerial dance and joined AWOL’s training company Flyco in 2016. Eventually, this led her back to teaching, this time through aerial. Her favorite thing about doing aerial is conditioning, finding the small movement pathways to make difficult moves more achievable and building strength while focusing on form.

Our Warehouse
A-WOL Dance Collective is located on the corner of NE Grand and Schuyler, just one block north of Broadway. Enter through our lobby where you will find our check-in desk, a welcoming waiting area and a community of tenants all serving the community in the areas of massage, and mental health therapy. Once you pass through our lobby, you'll find a 5,500 square foot warehouse complete with three training spaces and over 24 hanging points for aerial apparatus. Contact us to rent our warehouse.
Several times a year our warehouse space converts to a theater! We bring in risers for seating, we roll out the bar and set up bistro tables, our annex turns into a lounge, our back door turns into our entry and "voila!" welcome to the show!
